Kaye & Siren a few months before Kaye's death
We did not meet Kaye until the fall of 2003. But I knew her by reputation and will admit I was rather awe struck, blurting out "You wrote the book on Dachshunds!" ("A New Owner's Guide to Dachshunds") She laughed her famous laugh and soon proved to be one of the nicest, funniest women I had ever met. Kaye was never too busy to answer questions and share her tremendous Dachshund knowledge. I was honored to be able to travel with her and be introduced to her friends.

An ex-horsewoman Kaye had a Grace and Style all her own. She managed to breed that grace and style into her dogs. Kaye knew and appreciated good wine. She also knew and appreciated a good dog. She bred over 85 Champions and bred the #! Dachshund of all time. Ch. Laddland Wing and a Prayer. Wing won 156 BOV's numerous group placements and has 118 offspring who have won their American Championships.
The Laddland Bloodline is carried in Dogs not only accross North America, but in Europe, Russia, South Africa and South America

I was fortunate to live close to Kaye and spent a good deal of time with her during her last months. The day the above picture was taken I brought a copy of her Dachshund book up and asked her to sign it. During the afternoon I was bemoaning Patsy not getting pregnant after her 1st breeding. Kaye of course laughed and started telling me her horror stories. Just what a novice breeder wants to hear! When I got home I looked at what Kaye had signed in her book. "You Will Have Puppies". I cried.
Later that year Patsy safely whelped a litter of 8.
I hope my 2 litters of Laddland puppies pleased Kaye and in some small part continue the Laddland Legacy.
